How did Young Jeezy earn his money and wealth?
Young Jeezy aka Jeezy aka Jay Wayne Jenkins is a rapper who is also the leader of United Streets Dopeboyz of America (U.S.D.A.), a southern hip-hop group. He was born on September 28, 1977, in Columbia, South Carolina and grew up in Atlanta, Georgia. His childhood was rough and he described it as “empty” since his parents were separated. He was sent to a boot camp in Fort Stewart, Georgia when he was caught for narcotics possession.
Jeezy began his professional music career in 2011 when he released his first independent album, “Thuggin’ Under the Influence” (T.U.I.). He released it under the name Lil J and had collaborated with other artists such as Kinky B, Freddy J, Lil Jon and Fidank. He followed it up with the release of a two-CD set “Come Stop Me” (2013). He was signed up with Bad Boy Records after the release of his last album. He joined Boyz n da Hood and released an eponymous album in June 2005. The album was received very well and peaked at number 5 in the Billboard 200 charts.
Around 2004, Jeezy became the “hottest thing on the street” and many labels such as Interscope, Def Jam, and Warner were vying to sign him up. Jeezy signed up with Def Jam as his ambition was to do business with Def Jam executives L.A. Reid and Shakir Stewart. He released his debut album “And Then What” which also featured Mannie Fresh. He followed it with a major debut album “Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101” in 2005. The album went platinum and debuted at number 2 in the Billboard 200. The single “Soul Survivor” which featured Akon is the highest charting single in Jeezy’s career. It also peaked at ‘number 4 in the Billboard Hot 100.
Jeezy released “The Inspiration” (2006), his second major label album which included the hit single “I Luv It”. It peaked at number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. “Go Getta” featuring R. Kelly was the other hit single from the album. The album was certified as Platinum by the RIAA. Jeezy continued to release albums like “the Recession” (2008), “Thug Motivation 103” (2011), “Seen It All” (2014), “Trap or Die 3” (2016) and “Pressure” (2017). He is working on his final album “hug Motivation 104” in 2018 and plans to retire from rapping that the release of his album.
Jeezy has collaborated with several other artists such as “Icy” (2005) with Gucci Mane, “Dem Boyz” with Boyz n da Hood” (2005) and “Say I” with Christina Milan (2006).
